The news of his death spread like a fire on social media platforms because he was a very popular reporter in Paducah. So many big celebs paid tributes and lament at the news. No doubt Sam was more than a reporter for his fan following. He was also the source of inspiration for all those emerging black reporters who face difficulties while pursuing their dreams. I never met Mr. Burrage, but I remember watching his feature “Burrage’s Bag” when I was a Southeast Missouri State University student. Those who knew him speak very highly of him. We had thought-provoking conversations that would last hours in the car. Many people don’t know he was very much an introvert, but he knew how to turn on the charm for his job. I thought a lot of Sam and have many good memories of him. Rest In Peace, friend.”
