Ex-Rivers Military Administrator, Anthony Ukpo’s death was confirmed via social media posts. As the sources disclose, Brigadier General Anthony Ukpo, died at a private hospital in Calabar in the early hours of Monday at the age of  74.

Constitutional lawyer, Leonard Anyogu, who is the Secretary of the Ogoja State Creation Committee which was chaired by Ukpo, confirmed his death.
Anyogu disclosed that Ukpo died in an hospita after lingering sickness.
“I can confirm that the former Milad died this morning. He died in a hospital this morning. It is very sad. Cross River State has lost an asset”, he said.
Born 16th July 1947, in Okpoma, Yala, in Northern Cross River State, the late General was Minister of Information and Culture, and then Governor of Rivers State, from August 1986 until July 1988, during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida.

Born July 16, 1947, the late General was Minister of Information and Culture, and then Governor of Rivers State, from August 1986 until July 1988 during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida.
Ukpo was born in Okpoma, Yala, in Northern Cross River State, on joining the Army, he rose through the rank to become a Brigadier General before his retirement.
A stunt Catholic died in his private hospital in Calabar early Monday due to an undisclosed ailment.
