Roberto Roena was born on January 30, 1940, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. He was world-famous for salsa music. Apart from being a musician, he was an orchestra leader, and dancer too. Cortijo was the first teacher in his life who reached him how to play bongo and cowbell. He was also been a member of El Gran Combo, a Puerto Rico famous group.
He was part of the group until 1969 because after the year he had decided to create his own salsa orchestra. And that’s how “Los Megatones” came into existence.
