And funny enough, our meteorologist Chris Nisinger was the first person I talked to on my first day at FOX31. As a 23-year-old kid in a new city in a state I’d never even visited before, Chris made me feel at home. He had this warmth about him that made you feel like old friends immediately. I watched him exude that same energy with new hires and we all learned to know that time spent with Chris on- or off-air would be full of laughs, a few gasps, and never any dullness. In the years after leaving Albany, I kept in touch with Chris sporadically and at the end of our calls, he never failed to offer words of encouragement and confidence. We never ended a conversation without him serving up often very needed words of wisdom. I think even he didn’t know how much I needed it sometimes. We learned Chris passed away this week after an illness. I’m glad to learn his family and friends were able to see him and be with him as he passed. We’ll all miss our friends and our colleague. They say people won’t remember what you do or say but how you made them feel, and I’ll always remember feeling unabashed friendship when I think of the time we all spent with Chris.”
